Tobacco odor

Invasive tobacco odor : which air purifier to choose?

The odor of cold tobacco in a home is very unpleasant for everyone, whether you are a smoker or non-smoker. Cigarette smoke is a thick chemical compound that settles on the surfaces of your home: on the furniture, walls, textiles of the house, your pets and you.

To get rid of the odor of tobacco, airing your home is effective in the short term but not enough. The odor of tobacco is persistent and degrades as it cools. The air purifier acts against the odor in an effective and definitive way.

Fight against the odor of tobacco and smoke

Tobacco smoke from burning cigarettes is the number one cause of household pollution for smokers. If smoking is practiced indoors, particles, toxic gases and volatile organic compounds are released into the indoor air and are inhaled by all residents, whether they smoke or not.

Particularly persistent, cigarette smoke settles in dust, on furniture and permeates fabrics (sofas, curtains, rugs, carpets, wall hangings ...). It leaves a lingering cold tobacco odor that is difficult to get rid of.

The inhalation of cigarette smoke into the indoor air can cause coughing, discomfort and irritation of the respiratory tract, aggravation of asthma, cardiovascular problems, lung cancer etc. The consequences of smoking on health are numerous, some of them serious and can affect active smokers as well as non-smokers, who are victims of passive smoking.

On the other hand, infants, children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with heart or respiratory diseases are more sensitive to active or passive smoking. It is therefore important to protect them even more.

The benefits of an air purifier against tobacco odor

The first recommendation to prevent the effects of smoking is to avoid smoking indoors, at home.

However, if you smoke indoors, it is recommended to open the window and ventilate daily, because the more the space is closed, the more the concentration of pollutants is important. However, opening the windows when you smoke is not enough to protect those around you from the harmful compounds contained in a cigarette.

That's why using an air purifier against tobacco odors and airborne pollutants can help.

AIR ET SANTÉ air purifiers are equipped with a medical grade filtration system that captures 99.995% of fine particles and volatile organic compounds. Very effective against indoor pollution, VOCs and tobacco odors, they are equipped with a technology that detects odors, the presence of pollutants and filters airborne molecules created by the combustion of a cigarette.

You will be able to improve your breathing quality thanks to the medical quality filtration system of an air purifier against tobacco odors and cigarette smoke.

Action of our air purifiers' filters on odors

An odor is a compound loaded with volatile organic compounds. To fight against the odor of tobacco, the air purifier to be favored will be the one that has a Hepa filter (H13 or H14) and an activated carbon filter. The particles are retained by the different filters of the purifier product :

  • The pre-filter traps larger particles, such as coarse dust, and protects the filtration system.
  • The Hepa filter retains fine particles, smaller than 0.1 µm, such as pollen, bacteria and fine dust. The Hepa filter is the medical asset of the air purifier.
  • The activated carbon filter has an action on the volatile organic compounds that we find in gases, the emanation of chemical products and odors. These fine particles can contain biological (hair, pollens...), physical (asbestos) and chemical (volatile organic compounds, cigarette smoke) pollutants.

Each of these filters has a role to play in removing tobacco odor and odors in general. Pollution levels are reduced to make room for superior, filtered air quality in every room of the house. With allergens removed, your best moments can begin.
